Vegas Fashion Busts

what to wear in vegasYesterday we brought you Vegas Fashion Musts, and today we’re going with the other side–Vegas Fashion Busts are things you simply don’t want to be caught wearing or styles you should leave in the closet no matter what. Enjoy!

Tourist Items

Leave the family matching items, fanny packs, spray tans, and other abominations of tourist wear at home, unless you’re going with an Alan from The Hangover look. We know Indiana Jones has one, but chances are, it won’t work for you.

Clubwear and Diningwear

Don’t wear shorts to a club; you won’t get in. Same thing goes for flip flops, tennis shoes, pajama pants, slippers, and similar attire. Dress to impress and you’ll get in like the best. The same goes for fine dining. Nothing’s more embarrassing than feeling under dressed at a restaurant.

For Daytime, It’s Cool

For the daytime in Vegas, feel free to dress casually. Nobody will complain about your shorts, tennis shoes, and t-shirt in the daytime, whether it’s what you’re wearing at a Vegas buffet, show, or restaurant. Relax and enjoy, but once nightfall hits, step your game up and ditch the fanny pack.

Vegas Fashion Musts

Vegas Fashion FailAt What to Wear in Vegas, we’re here to help you look your best when you are in Vegas. Here are several tips to help you make the most of your Vegas experience fashion-wise:

Get Your Footwear Right

For girls, this means leave the five-inch heels at home. You can’t make it through a night in Vegas with them, and if you do, you’ll be miserable. Instead, carry them and wear a pair of Skechers or some other semi-fashionable but functional walking shoe that matches your outfit. Guys, if you’re going clubbing, leave the tennis shoes at home. Chances are if there’s a dress code, you’ll get scooted back out the door the other way.

Use the KISS Model

KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) should happen everywhere you go in regards to fashion. Spend your time going out, not figuring out what to wear. Cashmere sweaters, a current issue of GQ or Esquire will help for guys, and for ladies, any standard women’s magazine and a classy dress are always in style and helpful.

Don’t Get Too Tourist-y

Get rid of the fanny packs, the raunchy outfits, the spray tans, and the aloha shirts. Your fellow men and women will thank you for it later.

What to Wear in Vegas – Women

What to Wear in Vegas WomenWe enjoy doling out fashion advice from time to time, and what better way to get the ball rolling today than a few tips for females out there trying to look their best? Here are a few tips for women in the crowd who like to stand out and look their best in Vegas:

Don’t Overdo It

Yes, it’s Vegas, and technically, anything goes, but would you really want to be confused for one of those ever-present “escorts?” We didn’t think so. Dress sexy all you want, but leave something to the imagination. Clubs are always trying to attract more females, and dressing too over-the-top will NOT get you in.

Deals for the Budget

Don’t spend hundreds of dollars on a new wardrobe for Vegas. If you want to spice things up, Ebay, Overstock.com, and many other outlets have your back for a fraction of the price if you’re trying to be frugal.

Minis

Mini-dresses are all the rage for most seasons, but we’ve definitely seen a lot of them popping up everywhere. Vegas is no exception, and as long as you keep it classsy, you can’t go wrong with a mini-dress.

Club Wear in Vegas – The Rules

Vegas ClubsSo when you go to a club in Vegas, what exactly does “stylish attire” mean? What should you wear in Vegas? We’re here to make things easy on you so you don’t stand out for the wrong reasons. Here are a few tips for when you go out clubbing with your friends:

Step it Up and Double Standards

If you think that tourist wear will get you into a club, chances are you’re wrong. Jeans that are too baggy, tennis shoes, baseball hats, jerseys, shorts, and most all t-shirts will get you rejected. Your goal is to stand out anyway, so step it up a little! Also, some people will get by with some of the items listed simply because they know someone. Don’t let the double standard ruin your night.

Don’t Do What They Do

By “they” we mean your friends. Your goal is to stand out, so if all of your friends are wearing collared shirts, that’s the last thing you want to do too. You’ll be around them all night, and blending in is simply not an option if you’re out to have a great time.

Pants

You can get away with wearing a stylish pair of jeans at most nightclubs, but if your heart is set on dress pants, Zara, Diesel, and Metropark are the way to go. Don’t go for the torn jeans look, either. You’ll get kicked out of there faster than you can say, “I should have listened to What to Wear in Vegas!”

And Another Thing…

Leave the sunglasses at home! It’s dark outside…it’s dark in the club. You’ll be made fun of, and people will cry. What to wear in Vegas? Keep it clean, keep it classy, and you should be good. More tips here.

Should you follow these basic tips, things should go smoothly, you should get noticed for the right reasons, and everyone will have had a great evening by the time you hit the hotel.

What to Wear in Vegas – Fall Edition

Vegas dress code

As the weather begins to turn from summer blaze to a colder fall temperature, we thought you’d like to know what changes (if any, since we know you’re always dressed for the occasion) you should make to your wardrobe once you hit the city of sin. Here are a few tips for the colder months in Vegas:

-Jeans are the normal attire in the winter months, but sometimes we found ourselves in shorts with a light jacket ready during the daytime.

-Definitely expect the unexpected, and plan for a hot day out of nowhere (hence the suggestion for having a jacket at the ready). Daytime temperatures will generally be from 50-60 degrees, and nighttime 45-50 degrees.

-Layers are a good idea; that way you can adjust accordingly. There’s nothing worse than being stuck in the supposed “dry heat” when you’re not used to it and planned for a cold day by wearing a hoodie only.

-Avoid the snow boots and winter weather footwear unless said footwear is well broken in and comfortable. Otherwise, you’ll regret it later. Unfortunately, the distances you have to walk won’t change with the weather.

We hope these tips will help you in the upcoming cooler weather around the Vegas area. To get more information on what to wear in Vegas, click this link. Vegas Style Tips for Tourists – What to Wear in Vegas

vegas dress code

We always get asked, “What should I wear in Vegas?” and the answer in short is, “Whatever you want, but there are some unwritten rules.” Yes, you can get away with wearing pretty much anything in a place called Sin City, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get what you want out of the experience in doing so. Here are a few Vegas style tips for tourists:

Dress (and pack) for the Occasion

If you’re headed to one of the hottest clubs in Vegas, you probably want the best outfit in your ensemble, which is why you should pack at least one outfit that blows your other ones away in terms of glamour and style. You don’t want to be caught taking the easy way out and doing the khakis/jeans/t-shirt thing if you’re a guy (go for a suit if you’re doing it big!), and for the ladies, a sleek dress is always a great look. There’s nothing wrong with comfy clothes if you plan on walking the Strip or doing some attractions, but above all, dress accordingly.

Need a Value?

We can’t all afford to buy a wardrobe just for Vegas, and if you fit into this category, there are a lot of online shops and even some shops and boutiques in Vegas to get the job done for less. There are plenty of options available with a little research. Some people think it’s necessary to drop a lot of money to look good–this is simply not true. Be smart, plan ahead, and look good for less.

Remember the Weather

Wearing shorts during the summer is a must, especially if you are planning on being outside. In the winter time, jeans are the normal fare, but during the day on the Strip, we found ourselves wearing shorts and carrying a light jacket.
If you plan to walk the Las Vegas Strip or visit other casinos, wear a very comfortable pair of shoes. The casinos look close together, but once you start walking, you will soon realize how far apart they are.

Have Fun With It!

Remember, this is a place with little in the way of inhibitions, so have some fun with your wardrobe. If you’re on vacation, chances are you won’t have to deal with your boss asking you what you were thinking wearing your outfit that way while you were there. Take some liberties, enjoy your style, and chances are, others will also.
